In the XVII-XVIII centuries there was a new round of popularity of couches. The style of home furnishings of classicism and baroque, which drew inspiration from antiquity, again brought into fashion this unusual sofa.

Over time, couches became so popular that they were present in almost every house, especially in the women's quarters. In the 19th century, sofas were placed everywhere and called them "swooning." This was due to frequent fainting, which due to tight corsets occurred with the ladies of high society. And some coquets skillfully imitated weakness, beautifully falling on an embroidered sofa.
