How to enable subtitles on a TV

Some of the moviegoers watch films in different languages, but prefer their own. To do this, use the text display function. Also, for people with hearing impairment, or so that watching a video does not interfere with others, include subtitles. Since this function is available, it would be nice to know how to use it.

How to enable subtitles while watching a video on a TV

On domestic TV models, in order to activate the described function, it is necessary to do a number of actions:

  • using the remote control, enable access to teletext by pressing the "TXT" or "TTX" button on it;
  • in the menu that opens, dial 888 and confirm this value;
  • if desired, you can edit, for example, their brightness, you can also select the "subt. on without sound" mode, then they will turn on when the sound is turned off automatically;
  • exit the teletext menu.

In imported TV models, the “subtitle” or “sub-t” button is used to activate this mode. In newer TV models, you need to enable the option "Show additional controls" with the central button on the remote control. In it, select "subtitles", where they can, if desired, be edited. Choose a language (if necessary, it is indicated by numbers, according to the order of the language), the size and color of the characters.

The quality of the signal largely depends on whether subtitle detection and recognition will occur. Therefore, with poor reception quality, there may be no signal of text information. In this case, it is necessary, if possible, to amplify the signal.

The described section contains the following settings:

  • track number, select the language of the text;
  • encoding;
  • synchronization;
  • text layout
  • character size;
  • Colour.

How to turn off the subtitles on the TV

Domestic TVs deactivate this function with the buttons "TXT" and "TTX" from the remote control. Imported - using the remote control, the subtitle or sub-t buttons turn off or on. But if there are none, then in the "subtitles" section you can enable or disable them.

If the media file is viewed from a USB drive, then text information will be displayed due to the settings of the player that is set for viewing. Here you can change the display or turn it off completely. But if the subtitles are already embedded in the video and recorded in the file as an image, then it will be impossible to disable them.

It should be noted that MKV files usually do not have problems unpacking text information.
